MAET Year 2

This drop down menu provides you information for my summer cohort course at Michigan State University. The degree that I am currently working on is a Master of Arts in Educational Technology. Last year, I was very excited about the program and I loved every minute of it. It was a lot of work, but it was absolutely rewarding and satisfying. I’m very excited for this upcoming summer year. I am hoping to learn a lot of information on educational technology that I can use in my years to come in my educational career. My goal is to continue to educate myself and my peers about how to use technology, with the combination of pedagogy and content, to fully educate our students. The goal or focus of this year was the psychology of learning. In short, the pattern that I kept hearing over and over is how can we take knowledge (facts and basic information) and turn it into understanding (the application of knowledge). The summer was highlighted by the DreamIT project. My project approached the problem of the “closed” classroom. I feel that teachers are still using the information that is only found inside their classroom. I wanted to create the “classroom without borders,” by applying various web tools such as Google Docs and Facebook Groups to get teachers to open their classroom to the outside world.
